NOTICE TO TAX SALE PURCHASERS FOR 2022

The Treasurer is responsible for the receipt, management, disbursement, financial reporting, bonds and investments of all monies paid to the county and serves as agent for the Iowa Department of Transportation and Iowa Department of Revenue.  The office has a multitude of duties, many of which may be broken down under three main categories:

Property Tax

The collection of property taxes for real estate parcels, mobile homes and special assessments.  We respond to tax inquiries, Elderly Tax Credit Program and conduct the annual tax sale for the collection of delinquent taxes.  You may pay your taxes online at www.iowatreasurers.org, or by mail or use the white dropbox.

Vehicle Titles & Registrations

PLEASE NOTE - Effective January 1st, 2020, the Hamilton County Treasurer's office will require customers to provide a bill of sale when transferring titles to motor vehicles and trailers between private parties.  A bill of sale or purchase agreement is already required for vehicles purchased from a dealership.

The bill of sale should include the seller's name, make of the vehicle, year of the vehicle, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), buyer's name, date of sale, purchase price and signature of seller and buyer.  Download a Bill of Sale form here.

The Iowa State County Treasurer's Association in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Revenue aim to substantiate vehicle purchase prices, which have a direct impact on the fees that are remitted to the State's Road Use Tax Fund.

The issuance of vehicle titles and registrations, and the collection of all vehicle fees for residents of Hamilton County.  We process vehicle transactions, respond to telephone inquiries, provide service to walk-in customers, collect fees and mail renewal notices to vehicle owners.  You may pay your motor vehicle fees online at www.iowatreasurers.org
